AWW Facebook Friday Edition ~ Case of Cards

June Blog Hop

Welcome back again!  We’re here today to share our projects that were featured last week on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page!  You may have seen them there already but today, we’re here to share all the details with you and I’m sure you won’t want to miss any of them. The girls have a great line up of projects to share with you and I’m excited to see how it was all done! I truly look forward to our posts each week and particularly to the Facebook Friday edition..it’s hard to believe that after today.. we have just one month left as a team! …but, although our time as a team may be almost through, the sisterhood that has formed has only just begun! These girls are some truly wonderful friends and I since I’m staying home from convention this year I am truly going to miss seeing them all there! …they may just find me knocking at their doorsteps for a visit and a stamping session! THAT thought puts a smile on my face!

Okay, so here is the project that you saw on Facebook last Friday. It’s a cute little case of cards. I’ve been obsessed with little notecards and boxed sets lately and this is just one in a line up of boxed sets that I have offered or will be offering as a class. I’ll show you one more later on.  I’m so glad that people seem to like this one and that it will be useful to you as a stamper! This set is all enclosed in an altered half size wood mount stamp case.  Those wood mount cases are useful for so many things! Before I get into all of the details though, I want to be sure to point out to you that these are NOT your standard notecard sized cards.  They are actually 1/4″ smaller on both the height and the width. Read on to find out why but first here is my project.

These cards are stamped with the fun, new stamp set, Dotty Angles and Fabulous Four.  I created them to be 1/4″ smaller because the standard notecard sized envelopes are just a tad too big for the half-sized wood mount cases.  This way, I could make the card a tiny bit smaller and then custom make the envelopes to match and in the size I wanted to fit the case.  I’ll tell you the measurements in a moment so that you can be sure to make your own.  First, here are some more photos of the set.

I just love that pop of color all stacked up to perfectly fit the case!

Now to make those envelopes, you need your Envelope Punch Board and some DSP to match your cards.  Cut your DSP down to 6 and 5/8″ x 6 and 5/8″.  Then, lay it on your Envelope Punch Board and punch and score your first line at 2 and 3/4″.  From there you follow the directions as you would with any envelop by continuing to punch and score the remaining sides by lining up the peg with the previously scored line.

*Remember also that the cards I made are NOT your typical 3.5″ x 5″ notecard they ARE instead a 3.25″ x 4.75″ card so that they’d fit with the envelopes in the case. *

Here’s a little close up of each card for you.

And here is the case. I have altered it slightly since the Facebook post. At the time that these were created to send off to SU for the posting,  I did not yet have the In Color DSP and now I do. So, I switched out the DSP in the case (from black to Blackberry Bliss) when I was making the matching envelopes.. Love that Blackberry Bliss and had to have a pop of it’s DSP in this project!

Now, here’s another boxed set that I created. I am doing this as a class tomorrow and am so excited to be sharing it with some stampers tomorrow night! We’ve been excited about this one for a while now.  I may even offer it a 2nd time for those of you who couldn’t make it in this busy last week of school!

How did you emboss the three ombre pieces? Did you mount them to something and emboss, or emboss seperate and then put together? This is such a cute technique!

I’d like to make the large box of In-Color Party cards for a friend. Can you tell me how you made the interior divisions? This is VERY attractive.
