Fun Folds ~ Take Two!

a day late, but I'm back to share the 2nd of the two Fun Fold cards that we created at stamp club this month.  We had a busy week this week with Ryan away all week.  We were lucky to have Grandmas take turns coming to the city to help with the boys so that I could run my clubs/classes.  Their sleeping space is a futon in the studio so that meant no late night stamping and more time with the computer so I actually stuck to blogging a little better (okay much better) than I did over the past 10 months…I can't believe I made it back here 4 times in one week.  I hope you've continued coming back to see my projects and to read my LONG posts.

I had seen a few different versions of the Box Card shared lately and wanted to share this fun style of card with my stamp club members! All the the ones I had seen were created with DSP (patterned paper) and I knew that with having more club members than any one single pattern of DSP in my stash, I had to make it work with cardstock.  I know…those of you who have seen my stash are probably skeptical that I didn't have more than enough DSP, but with 30 club members and even though I have many more packages than that of DSP, I still didn't have more than 30 sheets of any one particular color/pattern of DSP and I like for everyone to create the same project!  It's just much simpler that way!  So, I came up with this box card made out of cardstock and accented it with DSP. Enjoy!

The other thing I love about creating it with cardstock (CS) is that I can just use the whole sheet of 8.5 x 11 CS and not have to cut into a bigger sheet (12 x 12 DSP).  With this side-by-side open and closed view, you can get a bit of an idea of how it uses a whole sheet to fold up into this box.  I'm working on a way to come up with a tutorial for this one…any suggestions on how to do a video..I'm open to them, i have no clue! ..with Ryan home now, maybe he can help with his techie skills (that I am lacking)!

Sweet Cake Box Card Open/Closed

One of the really fun things about this card is that the Cherries from the Mouthwatering stamp set are scented with the Cherry Scented Embossing Powder and they pop right out of the card! The Sweet Shop sign from the Sweet Cake stamp set is also embossed using Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and Vanilla Scented embossing powder. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo, but the icing on the cupcake is also embellished with the clear Dazzling Details that is on the Carry Over List.  This is one yummy smelling card! Hope you like it!  You can see the rest of the Sweet Shop line here

I'll be back tomorrow to share another project and perhaps some photos from today…it was an unusually warm day here for St. Patrick's Day.  We're normally still in the midst of Winter and are lucky to have it nice enough to scrape the ice off the driveway in time for Ethan's birthday (Mar. 25th) but it was +20 here today and the boys had a blast playing outside in t-shirts and shorts! Spring just may actually be here…I hope it's to stay!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy St. Patricks Day!
