Artisan Wednesday Wow ~ Gold Soiree Gift Card Holders

June Blog Hop

Welcome to the 2nd Week of Artisan Wednesday Wow! It’s so hard to believe that we are already approaching the half way mark of June and we have already received our last box  of Artisan goodies to create for you with! Where has the time gone?! It has been filled with fun, friendship, love and support! The group of us have become a close network of support and with that and recent tragedies weighing heavily on many of our minds, I wanted to take a moment before jumping into our projects for today to express my heartfelt condolences to the families (by blood and through brotherhood) and friends of those who serve and protect our countries who have lost their lives over this past week.  To those who continue to valiantly protect our freedoms and safety, we appreciate you and the families who support you in what you do. One version of my project was made with Father’s Day in mind, while we celebrate with the Dad’s in our life, we’ll also remember those families who will not get to share it with theirs.

The project I have to share today comes with a variety of options for inspiration and a couple of tutorials for you so that you can give this a whirl on your own.  I saw a very similar and really sweet idea on Heather Summers blog recently (I’m sure you probably recognize the idea) and had to give hers a try with my stamp club this month.  Thanks Heather for the super fun idea!  Heather used the mini Designer Series Paper Stacks to create a slightly bigger treat pocket, I loved it!  Once we got to creating and saw how fun and easy they were to make, we wanted to alter it to fit a gift card and to make perfect use out of 12 x 12 patterned paper.. if you’re anything like me, you have a hoard of DSP to use to create this cuties with!  I set out on that mission while we were crafting and came up with some measurements to create these pockets that JUST fit a gift card out of 12 x 12 paper with no waste by cutting the pieces down to 4×6.

There are plenty of special occasions coming up this summer (I already have a wedding in mind for one of these) and with Father’s Day coming up this weekend, I wanted to come up with something to suit those occasions to share with you!

This first version has plain clothespins that snap over the folded closure (I’ll show you how to make that later on along with the tutorial on how to make these gift card holders.

Here’s a slightly different version with a little washi tape added to the clothespins!

Here’s a view of what’s on the back of the closure.

See how the closure is used to put a little greeting on both the front and back of some of the pockets. I used a variety of stamp sets on the pockets to suit the greeting I wanted to share. Something to Say was used on this one.

Something to Say and Hello Darling were used on this one.   I love the ‘now go change the World’.. I have another pocket in the works with the Typeset DSP that has a  map printed on it and think that this greeting would go great with it for a graduate!

On this one, I used Amazing Birthday but this could be used for any occasion.

Here’s how that little gold label punched out with the Artisan Label Punch holds the pocket closed.  Read on down to the bottom for how to make that closure.

And here’s the Father’s Day Bow Tie version.. this one reminds me of our ADT sister Jane…her husband has just started a new online business called Bow Tie Riot.. it really is a riot and I adore their line of products.. you should check it out and if you decide to gift someone a bow tie or some cash for Father’s Day to go spend at you can tuck that cash (or a GC) right into a bow tie pocket like this one!  .. as promised,  I’ll even show you how to make it!

I kinda liked the gift card holder with just the bow tie too, so here’s what it looks like with out all the extras.

Here you can see how I attached the bow tie so that it served as a closer and will hold that gift card in there so that it doesn’t fall out.

Here’s how to do the folding closure in case you don’t want a bow tie or are up to giving these gift card holders a try! Thanks again Heather for the inspiration!  I’ve had fun switching it up in a variety of ways and definitely plan to make more just like the one you shared!

Let’s go see Becky’s card next.  Hers is a beautiful project and pays tribute to those who need our love and support right now.  Be sure to hop along to see what everyone else has to share.  See you again next week with the Facebook Friday edition of our hop!
