Fancy Friday ~ Make it Masculine

Fancy Friday Button-Sleepless Stamper

Welcome back.. it has been an awfully long while! I’m not sure how the time flies like it does but somehow 4 months have flown by since I last shared a project with you and 11 years have flown by since my biggest baby boy was born!  In keeping with our masculine theme for this month and since my boy had a birthday yesterday, I have his birthday card to share with you!  … love it when a project serves double duty (special card for my boy and a fancy project to share with all of you! Anyhow, I am sure glad to be back with the girls and to welcome a new guest to this month’s hop! I can’t wait to see what everyone has to share!

Here goes with my card for my now ELEVEN YEAR OLD son! .. I blinked and he grew up!

Sleepless Stamper Fancy Friday Masculine

Here’s a little bit of the details for you.

Sleepless Stamper Fancy Friday masculine details

I did a few different things with this card.  I’ll explain.

To create the ‘have a’, I use the fab Alphabet Rotary stamp, I love that you can create any word you need. It worked great for this card.

Next up, do you recognize the ‘super’ in the little banner image? Unless you’ve peeked at a French Sale a Bration brochure, you might not recognize it.  I used the French version (Jeu D’estampes Eureka) of ‘You Brighten my Day’ to get the word ‘super’ and just left of the exclamation point.

The button is threaded with some strands of a piece of white cotton twine and some strands that were pulled out of some Hello Honey quilted ribbon.  I love that you can use your ribbon just as it is or use the strands out of it for a more whimsical look.

The word ‘day’ is from the ‘Father’s Day’ stamp in the stamp set Crazy About You.  It was handy and quick and simply to just color over the ‘day’ portion of the stamp with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker.

‘happy’ is of course made with the Hello You thinlits.  To give that ‘happy’ some dimension, I first cut it out twice from coaster board and glued those together and then layered the silver glitter layer on top of that.  If you ever have a die that cuts such a fine image that it’s tricky to use dimensionals behind it, just cut another one two with coaster board so that you can still add dimension.  The plus side of this trick is that your entire die cut has more stability since it is fully layered underneath as opposed to having sporadically placed dimensionals.

Last, aside from layering all of the pieces together and adhering them to the card, I brayered some Night of Navy ink over the star patterned piece of paper from the Irresistibly Yours Sale a Bration DSP.

Have any questions, ask away!  I think I liked this project more when I first made it than I did the next day but when my birthday boy was wrapping up his day and heading to bed, his words to me were, ‘I had a great day Mom’.. and that was all that mattered!  (insert big smile on mom’s face here)

Be sure to hope along to see what Becky has to share, it’s guaranteed to be great, her creations always are!  I can’t wait to go see so I’ll hop along with you!  Just click the button below to go see her blog.

October Fancy Friday

Fancy Friday Button-Sleepless Stamper

Welcome back again to another edition of Fancy Friday! The weeks slip away on me in between our posts and I sadly neglect coming back to post in between these days so I am thrilled to have our Fancy Friday posts to gather with my ADT sisters to come back to to share with you all.

We’ve been running with a challenge for each post and this month is no exception.  The challenge this month was to use DSP.  .. and as a bonus, you’ll have a chance to win some DSP of your own! At some of the blogs you’ll have a chance to win so be sure to hop on through each blog, have a read and share some love!  Stay tuned for details on how to win some DSP here at my blog. First, here’s my take on the challenge.

October Fancy Friday ~ Sleepless Stamper

I used one of my favorite products in the Holiday Catalogue, the tree punch that co-ordinates with the Festival of Trees stamp set.. who am I kidding, pretty much the whole Holiday Catalogue is my favorite! .. how about you? Don’t you love it this year too?!  I did a couple of different things to create the forest of trees on this card. I  punched two of each of the patterns shown and scored the top layer down the middle and folded it forward for some extra dimension. The On Point embossing folder is only embossed about 2/3 of the way down the piece of cardstock.   The top portion lends to the feel of the forest of trees and with the bottom portion not embossed it left space for my greeting and a little extra embellishment.

If you’d like to win some of your own DSP from the Under the Tree Specialty Collection, leave a comment below for a chance to win a sampler set.  The winner will receive a 4×6 piece of each DSP from this collection.  The contest will close on November 6th and I’ll announce the winner on Nov. 10t.  Be sure to stop back to see if you have won. You’ll have to contact me with your information so that I can mail your DSP off to you! We are looking forward to having you play along with us!

I do have a bonus project to share with you today!  It’s a another take on the punched tree and instead of DSP I used specialty paper and added some bling! I love that glimmer paper! Especially the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper!

October Fancy Friday ~ Sleepless Stampertransparent

Once I punched out the tree from Kraft Specialty paper, I tucked it into the Star border punch at an angle to punch a scattering of stars out of the tree. After I punched a few out of one side, I flipped the tree over and punched a few out of the opposite side of the tree as well to carry the swag of stars right across the tree. I punched a 2nd Kraft tree and glued the starry tree to the full tree so that there was a solid layer underneath. Then,  I punched a set of stars out of Champagne Glimmer Paper, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Early Espresso cardstock and glued a variety of stars into the star openings in the tree.  The naturals Ivory layer is popped up with dimensionals and the Champagne Glimmer layer is set behind the circle opening onto the Early Espresso cardstock. The greeting is stamped with versamark and then heat set with Early Espresso powder.  I almost wish I hadn’t bothered with the linen thread.. it kinda looks out of place now that I see this on the computer screen. If you were to re-create this one, you could easily leave it without that extra touch! Have fun cutting into that DSP, looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Oh, if you’d like to join me in making some of your very own, I’ll be offering these in a class very soon. I did have one class of these cards today but will offer them up again as well!

Thanks for stopping in today and for letting us share with you!  I linked you up to Cathy earlier by mistake so huge apologies to Becky for mistakenly thinking she was unable to do the hop this month! Please do take a hop over to her blog to see her adorable cards! I definitely must case them! And since I had you linked to Cathy’s project before I do know that her card is super cute too! You really can’t go wrong with DSP and there’s plenty of inspiration at each of the stops along the hop!

Leadership Display 2014 ~ You’re Lovely

Stampin' Up! Leadership Display 2014

I’ve got two more projects from my Leadership samples to share today!  These two showcase the ‘You’re Lovely’ Sale A Bration stamp set.  You can get it free with a $60 purchase.  The rest of the Artisan Team is sharing all of their projects now to so be sure to follow the links at the bottom of my post for plenty of ideas and inspiration!

First up is a card with a contrast of Basic Black and Coastal Cabana.

Leadership Display 2014 ~ You're Lovely ~ Sleepless Stamper

I stamped the border image in Whisper White Craft Ink and chose to let it dry rather than heat setting it with powder.  I cut just half of the Deco Label image out of the middle of one side of the Coastal Cabana layer and then embossed the Coastal Cabana layer with the Decorative Dots Embossing folder.  I stamped the image from You’re Lovely with Versamark onto Watercolor paper and then heat set with Black Embossing Powder and water colored the flowers with a blender pen and my ink pads.  It was a fun sketch to work with and this style of card would work great in a variety of colors and with an array of framelits!  I’ll be trying this one again! How about you?

Here’s the You’re Lovely Stamp Set.  You can view the entire Sale a Bration Brochure HERE by clicking the image that says, ‘see the sale a bration brochure now’.  If you would like your own copy, be sure to let me know.

You're Lovely Stamp Set ~ Sleepless Stamper

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a Valentine Notebook.  It was a take on this notebook that I created with some inspiration from a card I had seen.  I wanted to work the concept from my inspiration into a notepad and tie it together with a pencil for writing.  Here is how it turned out!

Leadership Display 2014 ~ You're Lovely ~ Sleepless Stamper

Again, I stamped the image onto Watercolor Paper and then Pool Party with Versamark ink and then heat set with Black Embossing powder before coloring it in with my blender pens.  Just like my Valentine notebook the background pattern is a piece of one of the Chevron bags from the Tag A Bag sets in the Annual catalogue.  I tied some Whisper White Baker’s Twine and some Black 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon around the pencil and tied it up to the notebook with some Pool Party Baker’s Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack from Sale a Bration.

Leadership Display 2014 ~ You're Lovely ~ Sleepless Stamper

This little notebook would make a great host/hostess gift .. something to inspire your host or hostess to earn those Sale A Bration items and it gives them a place to keep their wishlist.  Who can you make a pretty notebook for?!

The rest of the Artisan Design Team and I still have plenty to share!  Use the links below to see what they’ve shared so far.  Some of my favorite Sale A Bration items are yet to come .. including Banner Blast! What is YOUR favorite Sale a Bration item?!

Thanks for stopping by to see my projects today.  I hope they inspired you and that you get to fit some stamping in today!

Leadership Display 2014 #3 and #4 ~ Geometrical

Stampin' Up! Leadership Display 2014

Welcome again to more of my Leadership Display Projects!  These two projects are two different takes and themes on the Geometrical stamp set… I see so many cute banners made with this set! .. and the greetings are cute too!  I love it when a set has both images and greetings that are fun to use!

Using a sketch when you’ve got lots of cards to make is a huge help! Do you ever use sketches?! What are your go-to sketch sites or challenges?!  Triangles are a hot trend right now, so there was no shortage of ideas and  inspiration when it came to this set!

This card was actually my first creation out of all 26.  I like a fun chalkboard look with a pop of color and it kind of set the tone for the next card too!

Leadership Display 2014 ~ Geometrical Cheer Up ~ Sleepless Stamper

Did you know that there is a triangle punch to co-ordinate with this set?  .. we actually didn’t have it yet when we created these samples (I’ll explain more on that for the next card), so I stamped the images from Geometrical in a variety of colors, hand cut them and then sewed them onto the Basic Black layer of CS pointing at the greeting stamped in Whisper White craft ink.  I always love a sprinkling of what some of my stampers call ‘junk’ (haha!) on a card but am never quite confident to pull it off.  This one has a simple sprinkling of candy dots to co-ordinate with the triangles.  I think I like it!

My next card has some of the same elements but a whole different theme.  I went with Valentines for this one.  This one was a total take on a card I saw on Pinterest in soft pretty colors (kinda reminded me of a romantic picnic) and when we released this set, I knew I wanted to remake it.

Leadership Display 2014 ~ Geometrical Valentine

This one has a little more of what is lovingly or not-so-lovingly referred to as  ‘junk’ on it than the last one.. that little scattering of DSP scraps and bling sprinkled about.  When a card or a page has a bit of white space that looks out of place (this is different that white space that is balanced nicely . .haha.. oh, I can be a crazy stamper, I know!) I like to throw on a bit of scraps that are laying around and although I struggle with where to place the sprinkling of bling, I love how it looks in the end so I try and try again to make it work.  Do you ever struggle with wanting to pull something off in your stamping but aren’t sure just how to do it?!

So, without the triangle punch to punch out the triangles of DSP, I stamped the triangles on the backside of the DSP that I wanted and hand cut them all out to line them up to make the border on the left and the banner hanging on the chalkboard.  This would have been MUCH easier and faster with the punch and so now I’m excited to remake this card with the punch in hand!  You can buy THIS set below for just $41.50, it has both the stamp set and the punch included!

geometrical bundle ~ Sleepless Stamper

I sewed both the banner and the border onto the card and embellished just a bit with the ‘junk’.  <wink> in this case those scraps of DSP really were junk since they were literally just sitting at my workspace waiting to be used or hit the trash as they were the pieces that were left over from between the triangles when I hand cut them out.  It worked out nicely and they were saved from the dreaded trash pile! .. until you mass produce such cards or do them in a class, then you find yourself intentionally and willingly cutting up DSP to create ‘scraps’.

There’s a little bit of texture on the card base too.  I used Perfect Polka Dots to give it a little bit of something extra.  If you’re like me, you LOVE texture, it’s a must on just about every project!  .. and if you’re really like me, you’ll want this cute little machine ASAP, it’s the Sizzix Texture Boutique and is only $36.95.

Hope you’re inspired to break out your triangle punch and Geometrical stamp sets!  Have fun, can’t wait to see what YOU make with this set!  I know for certain that the other Artisans have samples with this set too, since it was the Leadership make and take set, we all got to create with this set so be sure to click on the links below to the rest of the Artisan’s pages of Leadership samples.

Leadership Display 2014 #2 ~ Valentine Mash-Up

Stampin' Up! Leadership Display 2014

I’m back with another project from my Leadership Display Samples.  All of the Artisans are sharing their projects right now so be sure to click the links at the bottom of this post to follow along to the rest of this talented group of stampers to see what they’ve got to share with you! I’ve already cased some of the girls, their work is just too great not to!  Thanks girls!

I’ve got another Valentine project for you and will be sure to mix it up to something else after this .. well after tomorrow’s Facebook Friday (that we get to share on Wednesday) post since it’s Valentine themed too!

This cute project is a mash up of Sale a Bration and Spring Catalogue stamps and has a whole lot of fun packed into a cute notecard sized card.

Leadership Display 2014 ~ Valentine Mashup ~ Sleepless Stamper

When you’re stamping this many samples, chaos breaks loose.. all kinds of stamps, paper and embellishments can be found spread out on the table (or flying through the air)…while working away on this Valentine note card the triangle from Geometrical and the chevron image from Petal Parade were sitting on the table next to me and this little cupid arrow came to life (or came to mind but if you’ve got the tools (a little stamp, ink and paper), you really can make what’s in your mind come to life on paper!).  I snipped between the sections of the chevron image to make it look more like the feathers on an arrow and added the love image from Banner Blast and some punched hearts to adorn the front of my card.  That Chevron background is a piece of one of the Chevron bags from the Tag a Bag sets in the Annual Catalogue.  Not only are they great bags, they make a great piece of DSP when needed!  It’s all layered up on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  If you’re local and want to join me in making some of these, they’ll be coming up in a Valentines class real soon! Stay tuned…

Leadership Display 2014 ~ Valentine Mashup ~ Sleepless Stamper

Speaking of all chaos breaking loose when you’re stamping this number of samples, there was a particular comic I was trying to find to share with you.. maybe you know which one I mean?! It’s a drawing of a lady sitting at her craft table with snippets of paper flying all around her.  I searched for Cathy comics & Maxine comics among others but to no avail… can YOU help me find it?! Do you know which image I mean?!  In the mean time enjoy this one.. I’m sure you can all relate and while I may typically be a particular type of crafter over another I think we go through stages where we take on each one of these types of crafters when we’re creating with such variety of products, projects and on a schedule. It was fun…. crazy, but fun and I’d totally do it again, who could say no?! <wink>  .. for the record, ‘The Hoarder’ was about where it was at when this little Cupid’s Arrow was made!  Enjoy!

What type of crafter are you ~ Sleepless Stamper

We’ll be back tomorrow with more Artisan Wednesday Wow (our Facebook Friday post) and I’ll be back with more Leadership projects for you too!  Have a great week!

Artisan Wednesday Wow ~ Hugs & Kisses

Happy New Year! Welcome to our first Artisan Wednesday Wow post of 2014! We are all excited to bring new product, new projects and lots of fun things in the New Spring Catalogue! As much as a little break last week was great and time away was much needed … and even though I always say this, I’m so excited to see what the rest of the Artisans have to share this week.  I always love their projects and a new catalogue makes that even more exciting!

Before we get into our projects, you’ll have to take note of the super cute buttons that Jeanna created for our blog hop this month, that girl has some mad talent!  I just love what she can do with MDS!  One day I hope to get to hang out with her and learn from a pro! Thanks Jeanna!

I’ve got a card to share with you today! I love Christmas and the projects that it brings and this may seem early but I was ready for a total change and went with a Valentine theme for today’s card. I’ve got a birthday themed one like it in the works so hopefully I’ll be back to share that one with you too!  Here’s what I came up with.

Artisan Wedenesday Wow ~ Hugs & Kisses ~ Sleepless Stamper

The Perfect Pennants stamp set is in our box of goodies to create with this month and I just love that ‘you & me’ stamp in that set.  I used that and framed it with the On-Film filmstrip die.  This die set is going to get a lot of use here in my studio, it’s becoming a fast fave! You could add a photo into the ‘polaroid’ frame as well if you wanted to.  .. and then give it to your love this Valentines!

Artisan Wednesday Wow ~ Hugs & Kisses ~ Sleepless Stamper

I used a variety of pieces of DSP from the neutrals DSP stack and a piece of the polka dotted Real Red from the brights stack.  If you don’t own the DSP stack, you could always use the new Sweetheart Treat Bags and cut a heart shape from those to tuck into your design.  I just adore those bags!

Let’s go see what all the others have to share with us today! Becky is up next but be sure to hop on all the way to Mercedes!  I know I will! I hope to get back with my birthday version of the card soon!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I wish the Happiest of days to all of you Mothers on this Mother's Day.  Extra special wishes are sent to my own Mom for being the most amazing and loving role model!  I love you Mom!  We also send extra special wishes to Grandma Patti and to Grandma Grandma as well as to my beautiful Sisters-in-law, to my many Friends who are Mothers and to those of you who are like a Mom to someone and who have the Spirit of Motherhood in your heart!  This day is to celebrate you! Enjoy!

I had a really sweet start to my day! Ethan is always the first awake in our house on the weekend, so I awoke to him standing beside our bed anxious to show me what he had made me for Mother's Day.  Last Sunday during one of my classes he hauled a bunch of my supplies up the stairs and made me this adorable card!  All he needed was paper, stamps, ink and his own touch of creativity!  He even added some ribbon, that is a boy after my own heart!

This is what he made at school! Check out the adorable paper-pieced tulips!

I just LOVE his poem! …and can't get over the tulips! He is pretty proud of them too! These projects will definitely make it to a scrapbook page along with some photos of us from today!

Here is what Lennon created at Preschool!  This explains the orange finger nails one day last week!  He told me he was painting with his hands and surprisingly kept it a secret!  ..he's a good little keeper of secrets…we're in trouble in his teens!

This is how it was wrapped!

This is what was inside, now if this doesn't tug at the heart strings, I'm not sure what will?!

Another sweet poem!

All of this sweetness was a wonderful start to my day! ..and it got even better!

Ethan set the table all by himself this morning…can you tell?!  Love the kid dishes he chose along with the sparkly cups!  He even got out the table cloth that was a special gift from Susie and family that her Dad brought back from Portugal.  Don't you love the DQ napkins?!  I just love it all!

The Boys all made breakfast and to top things off Ryan created this in My Digital Studio (all by HIMSELF) as a surprise and played nice music to set the mood.  We all loved it!  I have to admit I was quite surprised that he came up with this and that he played his hand at MDS!  This was a template that he added the photos to and changed a couple of things. I'm impressed and feel very loved!  It doesn't take much to make me happy!  A few handmade cards, love shared and time with my boys is all it takes!

Have a wonderful day!  I hope you get to share it with loved ones and that you keep your loved ones who are afar close at heart today!

Happy Mother's Day!

Come stamp with me!

If your stash is running thin and it's time to stock up on cards I hope you're free to come stamp with me this Friday, April 8th!  I'm offering a Mother's Day, Father's Day & Easter Stamp a Stack.

We'll be creating 3 each of all 3 cards!  If you're a little rusty or in need of a workout, I can guarantee you'll solve those issues while creating these cards! <wink>  We've got plenty of techniques packed into these cards for the special recipients on your greeting card list this Spring!  If you can't make use of 3 of each theme and don't hoard at least one of each creation like I do then you can always switch out the sentiment to suit your card giving needs!

The fee for this class is $25.  Please RSVP as soon as possible as space may be limited and I'll be prepping very shortly.  Thanks! The class will take place this Friday at 6 pm, again…that's April 8th.

Here are the cards we'll be creating.  The Father's Day Card is one I cased from my own design of the male themed birthday card from my birthday stamp a stack last month but with a different twist.  I did use a combination of products that were used on a card I loved of Andrea Munro's (who am I kidding?! I love all of her work!).  She combined the cog punch with Plane & Simple and I just loved the duo so I used it here with the sponged edges and tone on tone like she did.  Thanks Andrea for the inspiration!  The Mother's day card is also my own creation…I've been loving the new Fun Flowers die and knew I'd use it to come up with something for Mother's Day.  After creating my card, I've come to notice how popular a combination the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and this die are! (kind of like when you get a new vehicle you all of a sudden notice it everywhere, I love it!)  If you have these two products they go wonderfully together and you won't have a shortage of inspirational ideas out there!  If you don't yet have them, you're going to want to add them to your wishlist!  (the die is currently on back order but is available to order).  The Easter card is totally cased (except that I changed it to a Gate Fold to incorporate a new fold to the class) from Carrie Gaskin, the Artistic Avenger.  I just recently discovered her talent and am always amazed by what she comes up with.  She totally solved my Easter card dilema with this one! Thanks Carrie!

I hope you enjoyed the cards today!  I'd love to have you join me at the Stamp a Stack on Friday! Let me know if you'd like to join us!

I'll likely be offering the Birthday themed Stamp A Stack again as well as long as there is enough interest.  Please comment or email to express your interest and I'll update you on a new date.  Thanks!

We seem to be jumping right back into the swing of things after Spring Break.  I apologize for the unintentional 'break' last week. I'll post soon about one of the events that contributed to my break from blogging!  … those stairs have really got to go! ..this time it didn't involve me, it involved my poor Lennon's face (and they're just basement stairs, but apparently we can't handle them!  Not to worry, the stairs seem to  have taken more of a beating than Lennon's face did now that he's mostly healed!

For now, I'm glad to have made it back again so soon!  Enjoy your week, I hope it's Spring wherever you are!

I love it when this happens!

Doesn't it feel great when you've shared something you love or have been inspired by and those you shared it with were inspired as well?!  Those of you who know me know that I take absolute delight in sharing what I love (whether it's a great deal, a new technique or a touching quote) and feel such gratification when it helps or inspires others!

It will come as no surprise then as to how delighted I was to see that a club member took what she learned here at card club and put her own spin on it to create her daughter's first birthday card!  What a special gift. …that she loved what she made here at my place enough to recreate it (which is always what my hope is…that what we create here will be recreated again and again) and that she was inspired enough to recreate it for such a special occasion!

Deryn, I'm so happy to have had the timing just right with this card club project that it was a source of inspiration for Juliette's card.  Thanks for sharing her special day with us and for welcoming us as 'extended family' to be a part of her life and to share her special moments.  🙂

Here is the card that Deryn created.  I just love how the different colors and size with the same techniques looks so different and beautiful. Great work Deryn I love what you came up with!

Here is the original card we made at club.

While I'm on a sentimental, I love when this happens kind of journey, I wanted to share a little 'testimonial' with you.  I received this about a week ago.   The reason I'd like to share with you is to share with you an idea of how happy it makes me to know that what is taught, learned and shared here in my home is a blessing to others.  It brings such fulfillment to know that the efforts you put into the projects here are appreciated and bring you new memories (read Lisa's message to understand what I mean).  Please know it is a blessing to me and to my family as well.  I am truly grateful for each and every one of you who shares your time with me at my classes and here on my blog.  I hope you are as inspired as I am to share, inspire and create with the memories that make up your life.

Lisa, thanks for allowing me to share this moment of yours.  It is definitely because of people like you (and those of you who read and/or take time to comment on my blog or share your time with me here) and moments like these that I do what I do and love doing it!  You are so kind and sweet to let me know that she loved it so much.  As I mentioned to you, it is of course because of the heart and soul and the photos that you put into it that she loved it so much … and I am honoured to have had a small part in that.  Thanks so much for taking the time to write to share this with me.  I really wish I could have been a fly on the wall.  Job well done Lisa!

Now here are Lisa's words. Thanks again Lisa!

"Just wanted to thank you once again for being so timely on the bday explosion box! My Mother just loved it to pieces. I put pics of memories of her, Dad (passed away 10 years ago) and her family from throughout her life and you could tell that she was blown away (no pun intended). She wouldn't put it down as she mingled for the rest of the party…showing it off to everyone there. She said she would never forget this.  So, thank you for the time and the idea and all the supplies and, of course, your company to make it such a success!" ~Lisa

Thanks to all of you for allowing me to share a love of paper crafting with you and also for sharing some of the most special and precious moments of your lives!

I am honoured and grateful!

Have a wonderful week!

p.s. I'll be back later today (after a slew of appts) with photos of my upcoming Stamp A Stack (to be held this Friday April 8th at 6 pm)
